BOSTON (May 3, 2017)—Dr. Piali De, CEO of Senscio Systems, was sworn in by Edward A. Palleschi, Deputy Chief Secretary, Boards and Commissions, Office of the Governor, April 21, 2017 in the Governor’s Ceremonial Corner Office in the West Wing of the Massachusetts State House. She took an oath of office to serve the Commonwealth as a member of Gov. Charlie Baker's Massachusetts Digital Healthcare Council, which advises the Governor on the digital health industry, and helps develop a growth plan to achieve the goal of creating the leading global ecosystem for digital health in Massachusetts.
De is the Brown University physicist recognized for inventing the AI system that our U.S. Intelligence Agencies used after 9/11 to detect airplanes that could be a terrorist threat. Today, she is pioneering Artificial Intelligence-powered platforms for the health care industry at the company she co-founded in 2010, Senscio Systems, of Boxborough, Mass. De's patent-pending digital health solution is designed for the chronic care population, the 5 percent of the population that accounts for more than 50 percent of health care spending in the United States.
On Jan. 7, 2016, Governor Charlie Baker announced the establishment of a collaborative Digital Health Initiative which will bring together public, private, academic and health care leaders to build a stronger and more connected statewide digital health ecosystem.
On Nov. 22, 2016, the Baker-Polito Administration announced the creation of a Digital Healthcare Council, a comprehensive public-private partnership that will advise the administration on the future of the Commonwealth’s digital health care industry. The council stems from the momentum of the Massachusetts Digital Health Initiative, launched in January 2016. The council convenes leaders across the digital health care industry, including technology, health care delivery, insurance, medical devices, the life sciences, academia and government, to advise on ways new digital technologies can improve health care in the Commonwealth, grow jobs and reduce health care costs.
