WATERLOO, Iowa (November 29, 2018)—In early November, a group of HME industry advocates convened at VGM headquarters in Waterloo, Iowa, for a workshop that shared best practices for digital marketing and social media consumer-focused campaigns, with the goal of advancing grassroots legislative efforts that benefit the HME community.

WATERLOO, Iowa (October 3, 2018)—Representatives on both sides of the aisle introduced the Breast Cancer Patient Equity Act bill that, if passed, will expand Medicare coverage to include custom breast prostheses as an option for women recovering from mastectomy surgery.

The bipartisan bill HR 6980 was co-sponsored by Representatives Rod Blum (R-IA) and Judy Chu (D-CA).

WATERLOO, Iowa (December 12, 2017)—In a nationwide survey, over half of Medicare beneficiaries reported problems obtaining medically needed home medical equipment (HME) such as oxygen and wheelchairs under Medicare’s Competitive Bidding program.

WATERLOO, Iowa (May 22, 2017)—If a picture is worth a thousand words, imagine the power of a video. For years, clinicians and case managers have struggled to coordinate care for their Medicare patients who require home medical equipment, services, and supplies under the Competitive Bidding Program (CBP). Meanwhile, CMS reports that there are no issues with CBP and that access has been unaffected.

WATERLOO, Iowa (June 30, 2016)—Advocacy group People for Quality Care is calling on HME providers to engage their patients in immediate advocacy. The organization joins the VGM Group, American Association for Homecare and state associations in a grassroots effort focused on garnering Congressional support for a joint solution to Medicare’s competitive bidding program by July 15. 

WASHINGTON, D.C. (May 24, 2016)—Unifying the voices of consumer advocates nationwide, the American Association for Homecare (AAHomecare) and VGM Group Inc. today announced merger plans for their respective consumer advocacy groups into a single, industry-wide consumer advocacy platform.
