BALTIMORE, Aug. 22, 2012—The Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) has clarified the applicability of the DMEPOS quality standards for ultra-light manual wheelchairs during an open door forum.
PHILADEPHIA, Pa., July 17, 2012 —ATG Rehab has acquired the complex rehab business segment of Philadelphia-based Associated Medical Specialties. ATG will assume responsibility for delivery of Associated Medical Specialties’ complex rehab orders from clients. In conjunction with the purchase, ATG and Associated Medical Specialties will co-market respective services to customers, payers and medical facilities throughout the region.
U.S. Rep. Joseph Crowley, D-N.Y., on April 18 introduced H.R. 4378, a measure that would create a separate benefit category under Medicare for complex rehabilitation technology. The category would include products such as complex rehabilitation power wheelchairs, highly configurable manual wheelchairs, adaptive seating and positioning systems, and other specialized equipment such as standing frames and gait trainers.
