Catching Up with ADMEA

The Alabama Durable Medical Equipment Association (ADMEA) held its annual convention July 25 and 26 at the Embassy Suites Hotel in Hoover, Alabama. Suppliers from across the state attended the convention for education and policy updates. The program was fast-paced and packed with information.

ATLANTA (July 26, 2018)—Providers looking to dip toes into retail waters, or jump in with both feet, will have plenty of opportunities at Medtrade, scheduled for October 15–17, 2018, at the Georgia World Congress Center in Atlanta. Rob Baumhover, director of retail for VGM Group, will be a familiar face during many of the retail-focused events, including a new breakfast session called Rise & Retail, scheduled for Wednesday, October 17, from 7:30 a.m.–9 a.m.

WASHINGTON, D.C. (July 26, 2018)—This week, West Virginia’s Congressional delegation released a letter to CMS Administrator Seema Verma asking her to address their concerns regarding “the significant cost differences that rural providers face relative to their urban counterparts within the CBAs,” after those issues were not resolved in the DME-related interim final rule released in May.

(July 24, 2018)—In a July 19 blog post, the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services announced the creation of the CMS Chief Health Informatics Officer (CHIO). The goal of the CHIO’s role is to drive health IT and data sharing to enhance health care delivery, improve health outcomes, drive down costs and empower patients, according to CMS. The role will be filled with a leader in the health care IT space and serve on CMS Administrator Seema Verma’s leadership team.
