Village Caregiving announced it now accepts Medicaid for in-home care patients in Wisconsin

BARBOURSVILLE, West Virginia—Village Caregiving (VCG), a privately-owned homecare agency in the United States, announced its approval to accept Medicaid in Wisconsin, which the company said expands access to in-home support for seniors and families across the state.

Through the Supportive Home Care (SHC) and Chore Services programs, Wisconsin Medicaid recipients can now use their benefits to cover VCG’s caregiving services, including help with daily activities such as light housekeeping, meal preparation, grocery shopping, bathing, transportation and companionship.

“We see the staggering need for care around us everyday," said Jeff Stevens, co-founder and CEO of Village Caregiving. "No senior should have to choose between financial stability and living safely at home. Due to the rigorous requirements of Medicaid, many homecare agencies do not accept the payment source. Unfortunately, this shuts out many low-income families. By partnering with Wisconsin Medicaid, we’re breaking down barriers so more families can access the care and dignity their elderly loved ones deserve.”

According to the agency, there is a great need for services in Wisconsin, as there were more than 1.2 million individuals enrolled in Medicaid in 2023 statewide. Of those enrolled in the program, 1 in 4 individuals (24%) are ages 65+ or have disabilities, according to the Kaiser Family Foundation (KFF).

VCG currently operates in multiple cities across Wisconsin, including Eau Claire, Green Bay and Madison, employing more than 154 caregivers who serve 325 seniors and families statewide.

The company’s expansion into Wisconsin follows recent approvals to accept Medicaid in Indiana, Ohio, Kentucky, West Virginia and Wyoming.
