POSTVILLE, Iowa, Oct. 19, 2012—Transfer Master introduced a redesigned product line Medtrade 2012. “When I introduced the Transfer Master bed at Medtrade 20 years ago, people actually laughed at me,” said president and founder, Aaron Goldsmith. “They told me that a bed created for the retail market, rather than reimbursement market, would never work in the home care industry.”
Now, in 2012, the HME industry has experienced collapsing reimbursement from Medicare and is seeking lucrative methods of revenue, which makes the retail-focused Transfer Master line attractive to providers. Armed with over 20 years of experience and thousands of customers served, Goldsmith began rethinking the Transfer Master Hi-Low line. The first challenge to his team: create a base that was easier for delivery personnel to carry into patients’ homes. “We knew we had a quality product to begin with,” Goldsmith said, “but it needed to be easy to transport and easy to assemble. We redesigned the base; split it into two sections and invented a patent pending tool-free process to easily snap the bed together. We have also expanded the custom features that improve the end-user’s experience.”
The Transfer Master Hi-Low line has been transformed into a collection of fully-customizable bed solutions. With both the patient and caregiver experiences still firmly in mind, this redesigned collection is built to meet the unique medical or lifestyle needs of each user. Customers can choose from several standard sizes and mattress surfaces or even order custom dimensions.
“There’s no question that everyone wins when we increase our clients’ independence and keep them at home,” Goldsmith said, “but we also wanted to make quality of life a priority. Our customers spoke and we answered. For example, they wanted beds uniquely styled like furniture while allowing spouses to sleep in the same bedroom together.”
