Philips Respironics, a unit of Royal Philips Electronics, last week introduced the SimplyGo, a portable oxygen concentrator (POC) that offers continuous flow (up to 2 liters per minute) and pulse-dose delivery in a single device weighing 10 pounds or less. Like all POCs, SimplyGo delivers pulse dose oxygen—a burst of oxygen triggered when the user starts to take a breath. But SimplyGo is different from smaller devices because it is also capable of delivering oxygen continuously, similar to stationary concentrators used at home. With oxygen output of up to four times that of some lightweight POCs, SimplyGo can meet the portable needs of nearly all oxygen users including those who are highly active or require continuous flow, the company said.
