WALTHAM, Mass., April 26, 2013—NeuroMetrix introduced the SENSUS pain management system at Medtrade Spring. SENSUS is the only transcutaneous electrical nerve stimulator (TENS) designed specifically for patients with chronic pain and diabetes. SENSUS was featured in the New Product Pavilion. Response from attendees was very positive.

One quarter of people with diabetes have severe chronic pain due to painful diabetic neuropathy (PDN), a form of neuropathic pain. Most do not get adequate relief from pain medications alone. While electrical stimulation has been shown to be an effective treatment option for PDN, conventional TENS devices are not well-suited for PDN treatment. SENSUS is convenient for the patient. It is worn just below the knee and allows the patient to go about normal daily activities while receiving therapy. There are no lead wires or electrodes that require precise placement. It is easy to use, requiring only one button to initiate therapy. A simple, fast setup process customizes electrical stimulation to meet each patient’s individual needs.
