WATERLOO, Iowa, May 23, 2013—Mike Kloos has been named president of VGM Insurance, replacing Tom Jones, who will retire from that position May 31. Kloos, who begins his new position June 1, joins VGM from TCF Equipment Finance, where he is senior vice president of strategic business development. He started with VGM Leasing (later VGM Financial Services) in 1994. When TCF purchased that company in 2004, he held positions including senior vice president of sales and general manager of the TCF Waterloo operations.
“I am confident that Mike is the right individual for this job because of his extensive experience with VGM and TCF. Mike is a proven executive with a tremendous track record of growing businesses. He has deep knowledge and understanding of the HME and O&P industries. He is a great leader, communicator and problem-solver. I have no doubt he will adapt to his new position very quickly,” said Van G. Miller, CEO and founder of VGM Group, Inc.
During his tenure as a senior executive, the equipment finance business for which he was responsible tripled in size through growing existing market segments and expanding into new markets.
VGM Insurance is the nation’s largest provider of general, products/completed operations and professional liability coverages, and Medicare/Medicaid surety bonds for DMEPOS providers. The company also supports its clients’ insurance needs with business auto, property and workers’ compensation coverages. In addition to HME providers and O&P practitioners, VGM Insurance also works with pharmacies, respiratory and sleep study facilities, mastectomy supply companies, medical equipment distributors and manufacturers, their representatives and other related companies. VGM Insurance is one of the few insurance programs in the country which has provided liability insurance to DME providers and O&P practices continuously for more than 20 years.
The VGM Insurance management team, aside from the transition in president, remains unchanged. The senior team includes Janean Craig, operations; Russ Britson, underwriting; Warren Freeman, sales and marketing; and Linda Braden, claims. Christy Liss remains chief counsel for claims. Mike Mallaro, VGM Group chief financial officer, retains executive responsibility for the VGM insurance businesses, and Van Miller and Jim Walsh, VGM Group president and general counsel, also continue their significant involvement in the operations of VGM Insurance. Jones will remain in a consulting capacity to the company through Dec. 31. For more information go to www.vgm.com.
