WASHINGTON, D.C., June 6, 2013—AAHomecare reports that, according to a letter Humana sent out recently to its members, starting July 1 the company will use rates from CMS’ national bidding program to reimburse out-of-network DME providers. Members are advised to change providers if theirs is unwilling to accept the lower rates.
The letter directs providers with questions about Humana’s reimbursement policy to go online to humana.com/providers and then look under “What’s New” for a topic named “Non-network Durable Medical Equipment, Prosthetics, Orthotics and Supplies (DMEPOS) Providers Subject to Original Medicare DMEPOS Competitive Bidding Program.” However, that topic cannot be found on Humana’s website. Instead, providers should call the telephone number listed in the letter: 800-457-4708.
