ALGONA, Wash.—When EZ-ACCESS is your name, you have a reputation to live up to, and EZ was the goal of EZ-ACCESS’ engineering team in designing a vertical platform lift (VPL) that was not only EZ to access and use for the customer, but also EZ to install and service for the dealer.
EZ-ACCESS understands that installations are an enormous portion of the service a dealer provides any customer that purchases a platform lift from them. That is why the Passport is designed with an all-aluminum construction with powder coated steel support legs, making it the lightest lift on the market (380 pounds total), yet strong enough to handle a 750-pound weight capacity, giving the occupant peace of mind. The tower is just over 200 pounds, a weight most installers would be able to maneuver with just a small hand truck. Reducing the number of people required for installations not only decreases labor cost, but increases capacity for more installations. To eliminate costly “dead run” service calls, the operator control panel features a diagnostic system designed into the panel, with indicator lights broken into three color coded sections to help identify system operating issues that can be resolved by the customer or with a quick phone call.
Passport’s operating system was designed with safety and ease of operation and installation in mind, starting from the ground up. The platform’s self-activating 24-inch entry ramp automatically folds upward for safety when the VPL rises. The platform’s undercarriage is equipped with a formed aluminum safety pan with obstruction detector, designed to stop upon contact with an obstacle (takes less than 15 pounds of pressure to stop lift). The user adjustable control box includes large mushroom-head control switches for “up/down” operation and onboard LED indicator lights, including diagnostics for quick and easy reference. The smooth movement of the lift is attributed to the pairing of a 1-inch diameter Hi-lead® drive screw driven by a 24 VCD angle head, with a hollow shaft worm drive gear motor, allowing the lift to move at 10 feet per minute. All powered by two 12V-12AH sealed lead-acid batteries with a two amp smart charger. No need to worry about power outages: The batteries will power 26-30 full-cycle, full-load trips. Installers will love the “plug and play” installation of the electrical components, with coordinated connectors making wiring fast, easy, and “goof-proof.” No need to hire an electrician or apply for wiring permits. The unit requires only a 120V outlet for trickle charging the systems batteries.
EZ-ACCESS offers several options for the Passport VPL for increased safety and making life easier. The easy-to-push call/send control option allows additional stations for the occupant to call their Passport up and down. Mount it at the bottom of the stair or landing, top landing, deck, or porch, and push the up/down buttons to ascend or descend to desired location. For even more versatility, use the wireless remote option the wireless remote transmitter FOB (or key fob) allows operating the VPL from a remote location (inside your house or vehicle). For maximum versatility and coverage, the wireless remote option and the call/send control option can be used together. Prevent accidental falls from the platform landing with the optional top landing gate. The mechanical interlock releases gate only if platform is at upper landing. Magnetic Reed Switch will not allow lift to operate unless both the gate is closed and gate latch is engaged. An optional Platform Safety Rail attaches to the platform guard wall for additional personal stability for those standing on the VPL. Learn more at www.ezaccess.com.
