TORRANCE, Calif., Jan. 14, 2012—As part of Convaid’s community outreach efforts to help provide special needs children, adults, charitable organizations and schools access to the highest quality compact-folding lightweight wheelchairs, the company has recently teamed up with Mending Kids International (MKI) to donate a Cruiser wheelchair to one of MKI’s recent Cerebral Palsy patients from Guatemala.
Danielito, the eight year-old recipient of the Convaid wheelchair, recently underwent a rhizotomy, with the help of the MKI, the non-profit organization that provides lifesaving surgical care to children worldwide. “We are incredibly grateful to Convaid for this stroller donation to Danielito, a child living with his devoted family in Guatemala City, Guatemala,” said Marchelle L. Seller, executive director of MKI. “Last year Daniel received life-mending cerebral palsy ‘release’ surgery from Mending Kids International and now with therapy, he is moving more than ever and is on the go. This stroller donation will be such a HUGE help to his family navigating the difficult streets of the developing city. This is a wonderful example of two organizations that can work together to bring a child more independence and true life change.”
Convaid President Chris Braun is glad they were able to help Danielito and start a relationship with the Los Angeles based organization MKI. “We are always looking for new ways to help children in developing countries,” he said. “We are glad we were able to start a relationship with an amazing organization like MKI that provides medical services for families that otherwise, could not afford them. We hope Danielito and his family get good use out of their new Cruiser stroller.” For more information call 888-CONVAID or visit www.convaid.com.
