The Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services recently awarded Cahaba Safeguard Administrators, LLC, of Birmingham, Ala., a contract and two task orders as a Zone Program Integrity Contractor (ZPIC) for Zone 3--Kentucky, Indiana, Illinois, Minnesota, Michigan, Ohio and Wisconsin.
Cahaba Safeguard is now working with the current contractors to transition responsibilities for Medicare Part A, Medicare Part B, Durable Medical Equipment and Home Health and Hospice, along with the Medicare-Medicaid Data Matching program for the State of Ohio.
The fully operational start date is Tuesday, April 24.
Headquartered in Birmingham, Cahaba Safeguard has offices in Morrisville, N.C. and Des Moines, Iowa. Office locations for Zone 3 are in Naperville, Ill.; Livonia, Mich.; and West Allis, Wisc.
