MIAMI, Dec. 5, 2012—In early 2011 John Acosta’s family physician made the difficult decision to initiate home hospice care for his grandfather following a 12-year battle with Parkinson’s disease. While helping his grandmother care for her husband of 60 years he became painfully aware of the lack of solutions available on the market to meet the particular needs of both the caregiver and the patient. As he watched his grandmother struggle to maintain her husband’s hygiene and dignified appearance the seeds of his company, Comfort Care Clothing Co., were planted. The adaptive pajama top design represents the first of a comprehensive product line of adaptive clothing, designed to address the unique needs of critical care patients and the estimated 1.4 million Americans that participate in hospice care annually.
“We are very proud to have brought our adaptive pajama top this far, now we can share this amazing product with many patients, caregivers and families in need.” Acosta said.
The adaptive sleepwear design allows caregivers to easily dress and undress hospice and hospital patients with limited or no mobility. Comfort Care Clothing utilizes soft, breathable materials to ensure maximum comfort and ease of laundering, while maintaining the patient’s dignified and hygienic appearance. The unique quick snaps located down the sleeves allow caregivers to quickly change the patient without having to remove intravenous devises or vital monitoring systems. “This unique garment eases the very physical task of turning and changing a patient's clothing, all the while, maintaining his/her dignity,” said Jessica Brock, BSN, Hospice RN
Comfort Care Clothing Co. is driven by a passionate dedication to the idea that everyone deserves to be treated with the upmost dignity and respect in every phase of life. This philosophy is the driving force behind our innovative adaptive product line, which provides practical solutions for hospice and hospital patients.
