The American Association for Homecare last week urged congressional negotiators to include the Market Pricing Program (MPP) in “doc fix” legislation.
In letters to each member of the House-Senate conference committee working on the legislation, AAHomecare President Tyler Wilson called for the measure to replace competitive bidding.
Congress is working on legislation to prevent sharp cuts in Medicare payments to doctors and also to extend payroll tax cuts. The legislation must be enacted by the end of February, and HME advocates are attempting to replace competitive bidding before it is implemented in 91 more metropolitan areas.
The Competitive Bidding Program has already been implemented in nine areas, and has devastated the HME industry while limiting access to HME products to Medicare beneficiaries.
This week, AAHomecare is hosting its annual Washington Legislative Conference, and members of the organization will be visiting Capitol Hill to visit congressional members and push for MPP.
Additionally, the National Association of Independent Medical Equipment Suppliers is encouraging HME advocates who aren’t going to Washington to participate in a “Virtual Capitol Hill Conference.”
