CHICAGO—Sunset Healthcare Solutions, a U.S. manufacturer and distributor of home medical equipment (HME) supplies, is celebrating its 20th anniversary.

The Chicago-based company was founded by Greg Wood and CEO Chris Slosar in 2004. As a startup, it focused on competitively priced, quality respiratory supplies alongside highly specialized customer service. Sunset also set out to distinguish itself in the market as a dedicated advocate and partner for durable medical equipment companies (DMEs). Sunset’s product offerings started with CPAP filters and tubing and expanded to CPAP masks, chinstraps, oxygen cannula and other respiratory devices and accessories.

From 2008 to 2011, Sunset experienced a growth rate of 644%. In 2011, it ranked #519 on the Inc. 5000 list of Fastest Growing Private Companies, landing just two spots behind social networking giant LinkedIn. Sunset was named to the Inc. 5000 list eight additional times. In 2018, Sunset settled into an expanded warehouse and production facility in Bloomingdale, Illinois, and opened its distribution center in Phoenix, Arizona.

In 2020, Sunset launched its Acute Care Division, acquiring GPO contracts with Vizient, Premier, Capstone and Acurity LLC., and introducing new pediatric products, masks, resuscitation devices, laryngeal mask airways and more.

“Sunset’s dedication to the DME space extends from the smallest providers to the most complex organizations, and starts with industry-renowned, tailored customer support,” said PJ Ruflin, vice president of business development at Sunset. “Sunset brings extensive sourcing expertise, dedicated personnel, a deep catalog of product offerings and highly competitive pricing. We’re excited to take our relationships and momentum into the next 20 years and beyond.”
