EXETER, Penn. (October 2, 2017)—Quantum Rehab is pleased to announce the launch of its 4Front front-wheel drive power chair, featuring SRS (Smooth Ride Suspension).

The Quantum 4Front focuses on bringing enhanced ride comfort, performance and safety to the front-wheel drive segment.

“As we developed the 4Front, we heard from clinicians, providers and consumers that they wanted a front-wheel drive power chair with suspension that addresses real-world needs,” explains Jay Brislin, vice president of Quantum Rehab. “The market didn’t want just another power chair, but one that focuses on ride quality, drivability and safety. We looked at the top suspension systems in other industries, especially automotive and spent two years evolving what’s now SRS on the 4Front.”

The result is that the 4Front features automotive-grade suspension components and engineering to create performance and stability, with optimized user ride comfort. At the heart of the 4Front’s SRS are four “coil-over shocks.” Whereas most power chairs use spring-based suspensions, SRS uses coil-over, gas-charged shocks, providing an ultra-smooth ride. The geometry in which the shocks are integrated into the power base allows independent wheel travel, with the additional effect of power base stabilization, delivering safe seat elevation up to 10” at 3.2 mph.

“We understood the necessity of medically-based absorption on the 4Front for the smoothest ride possible,” shares Jay Doherty, director of Clinical Education. “For clients with spasticity, tone, decreased balance or limited strength, unwanted power chair movement can be both detrimental and fatiguing. This also holds true for those using specialty controls, such as a head array. SRS on the 4Front lessens bumps and jarring, creating among the smoothest, most stable seating environments for the user.”

As a complex rehab power chair, the 4Front carries a full range of seating and specialty drive control options, in a highly-maneuverable power base using Group 24 or Group 34 batteries for optimal range. CASE (Caster Angle Sensor Encoder) technology allows predictable handling on varied terrain, and safe seat elevation delivers up to 10 inches of lift at a 3.2 mph driving speed.
