TUSCAN, Ariz. (December 1, 2017)—Health care M+A advisory firm VERTESS continues its strategic growth with the addition of Eric Hymes, a respected Durable Medical Equipment (DME) executive, as a managing director.

Eric initiated his health care journey early in his career with the US Army as a Combat Medic. Since that hands-on introduction to health care services, he sought to deepen roots in what developed to be a multi-faceted experience spanning several decades. During his time as a DME leader, he held the role of general manager and senior executive with CCS Medical with over $100M in P&L responsibility. “While my career in health care has always been focused on the end user and their families, the apex of my experience was successfully navigating an ever-shifting landscape of health care insurance policy and associated reimbursement pressures. This created an environment where the most dynamic and well managed companies were always the market leaders and market survivors.”

Eric entered the M+A world in 2013 as an executive seeking to build a significant platform company in urological DME products and services. He and his team successfully established that platform in three years and exited the business leaving behind a top ten contender in the urology DME sector. As a managing director at VERTESS, Eric will focus in the DME (diabetes, insulin pump, urology, ostomy, incontinence, advanced wound care dressings and other specialty products) and specialty physician practice verticals, in addition to his consulting and advisory work in the operational and revenue cycle aspects of DME health care providers.

“I am honored to be a part of the VERTESS team and trust that I will be able to advise firms who are looking to diversify in their particular health care delivery models,” Eric remarked. “With the ever-changing marketplace, the pressures of reimbursement and new health care policy, it takes a very talented and dedicated health care business owner to balance those pressures while providing genuine quality care that serves the patient and the care giver well.”

Tom Schramski, VERTESS managing partner, said, “We are very fortunate to have Eric join us as we expand our presence in the DME marketplace. Along with Bradley Smith, Managing Director/Partner, we are poised for significant growth while adding increased value for our clients.”
