WASHINGTON—LeadingAge released the 23rd edition of its LeadingAge Clinical Procedure Manual (CPM). The updated manual helps home and community-based providers support staff competency and align clinical practice with current professional standards.
Formerly known as the Visiting Nurse Associations of America (VNAA) Clinical Procedure Manual, the manual promotes quality care by providing evidence-based guidance to help ensure that procedures are performed properly by every clinician.
The CPM covers a wide range of procedures commonly performed in home health, hospice and community-based care settings. Topics range from activities of daily living and medication management to wound care, infection prevention, safety, behavioral health and pediatric care.
“The Clinical Procedure Manual has long been a trusted resource for home health and hospice providers,” says Mark Anderson, president and CEO of Vivie. “At a time of increased scrutiny, organizations need confidence that clinical procedures are being performed in a consistent, reliable way by every clinician. The updated 23rd edition helps providers support quality care, strengthen staff competency and align practice with current professional guidelines.”
The two-volume manual includes step-by-step guidance for more than 300 clinical procedures and integrates recommended assessment tools directly into procedures. Developed and reviewed by a diverse team of clinical experts, the 23rd edition reflects current professional guidelines and best practices while emphasizing client and family education, critical thinking and clinical decision-making.
The newest edition also includes updated guidance related to infection prevention, personal protective equipment and other key practices that support safe, high-quality care delivery.
“Providers today face increasing expectations around quality, consistency, documentation and compliance,” said Katie Smith Sloan, president and CEO of LeadingAge. “The Clinical Procedure Manual continues a long tradition of supporting clinicians with practical, evidence-based guidance. We are proud to carry forward the legacy of this trusted resource and make it available to organizations committed to excellence in care.”
