DES MOINES, Iowa—Innovive Health, a home health care agency serving complex behavioral health patients, hosted a ribbon cutting to mark the opening of its new Iowa office in Des Moines, Iowa. The event featured local business leaders including the executive director of the Des Moines Downtown Chamber of Commerce, Innovive Health leadership and clinical experts, and Iowa managed care partners.
Innovive Health’s care model focuses on effectively treating patients who have multiple medical comorbidities with complicating behavioral illness. In collaboration with the agency’s health system and payer partners across the country and in Iowa, Innovive Health focuses on the continuum of care while also reducing emergency room visits and in-patient readmission.
With operations already in Massachusetts and Colorado, Innovive Health serves thousands of patients in the country, including individuals with multiple comorbidities who are often hospitalized dozens of times per year. According to Innovive, more than 128,000 Iowans are living with a severe mental illness, and nearly seven in 10 adults with a mental health diagnosis also live with another chronic medical condition.
"Iowa currently ranks fourth in the nation for hospital stays related to depressive disorders," the company said in a released statement. "Multiple studies have shown that in-home health care reduces preventable hospitalizations, and Innovive projects that expanding behavioral home health care could help save states like Iowa up to $200,000 annually per patient."
