BURKBENNET, Texas (March 18, 2022)—HomeWell Care Services, a nonmedical in-home care provider, has hired Erika Ehlers, a 25-year learning and training veteran, as senior director of training. Ehlers is the latest in a series of strategic hires by HomeWell to support new and future owners of the rapidly growing franchise brand, which recently posted record results for 2021.

Ehlers joins HomeWell with a track record of implementing learning programs and systems that drive performance, engagement, and return on investment, most recently at T. Rowe Price as vice president and learning lead. She has previously held learning leadership roles at GlaxoSmithKline, Choice Hotels International and WoodSpring Suites.

“I’ve worked across many different industries and was drawn to HomeWell because of its mission, its people, and its community of owners,” says Ehlers. “HomeWell’s franchisees are fantastic people: friendly, compassionate and committed to impacting people’s lives for the better.”

“I’ve been struck by how collaborative they are in sharing knowledge and learning from each other,” she added. “Their desire to help others extends to their peer relationships as well—and for a learning professional, that’s a wonderful situation because peer learning is such a valuable complement to our learning content and facilitation. Our training programs become doubly impactful when owners are also gaining insights from peers who are already in their shoes and doing what they’re doing.”

HomeWell, which expects to have 100 U.S. franchises by the end of 2023, is investing significantly in its team to support new and existing owners. The company has seen a substantial increase in interest from potential owners who see demand, scalability, and the potential to impact communities for the better. HomeWell has responded with new hires and initiatives, including a team of franchise business coaches, to deliver exceptional training and coaching on how to operate and grow a home care business.

“For those who are interested in pursuing business ownership within the home care space but may be apprehensive due to a lack of knowledge about the health care industry, HomeWell is the brand for you,” says Michelle Cone, SVP of training and brand programs. “We provide purposeful, intentional learning opportunities that ensures each owner can confidently speak the language and learn to operate not just a franchise business, but a homecare franchise. Everything we have developed has been created from the ground up by experts who have worked within the continuum of care: health care organizations, the homecare space and the facility space.”

“On the other side, our Franchise Services team is stacked with franchise business coaches who’ve owned and grown successful businesses outside of healthcare. Together, our team is perfectly positioned to offer outstanding training and development programs and more, much of it delivered by the company’s senior leadership,” Cone added.
