Sheehan will be honored at the Stand Up for Homecare reception at Medtrade 2017.

WASHINGTON, D.C. (October 11, 2017)—Industry advocate and leader Gary Sheehan, president and CEO of Massachusetts-based Cape Medical Supply, will be honored as the recipient of the 2017 Van Miller Homecare Champion Award at the upcoming Stand Up for Homecare reception on October 24, in Atlanta.

The Homecare Champion Award recognizes and honors AAHomecare members for outstanding  service to the HME community. Last year the award was renamed to reflect the characteristics of an HME visionary, Van G. Miller, past CEO and founder of the VGM Group. Sheehan embodies these characteristics as a passionate and vocal advocate for HME, as a leader on public policy issues, and through service at the state/regional level.

He has built strong relationships throughout the New England Congressional delegation, both though lobbying on Capitol Hill and through regular in-district meetings, and has helped inspire many of his colleagues to take a more active role in advocacy on HME issues.

Sheehan has also served in numerous leadership roles with the Home Medical Equipment and Services Association of New England, and continues to move the industry forward though his efforts to engage the media. He also shares his expertise with the HME community by presenting  at both local and national conferences and conventions.

Sheehan grew up in the HME industry, building the company his parents started in 1977 into a highly-respected supplier serving patients through multiple locations in the region. You can get a look at his passion for his patients, the HME community, and the New England Patriots via his lively Twitter feed.

The 2017 Van Miller Homecare Champion Award will be presented during the Stand Up for Homecare reception on October 24 from 5:30-7 p.m., at the SkyLounge at the Glenn Hotel in Atlanta. Sheehan joins a distinguished group of honorees, including Missy Cross who was the recipient of the 2016 award.
