BOSTON (May 24, 2016)—Brownmed, a leading manufacturer of products aimed at improving the quality of life for patients, announced today that it has acquired Joslin Orthopedic Gear and its line of stretch-to-fit arm slings, all of which are designed to provide maximum patient comfort.

“The acquisition of Joslin Orthopedic Gear reflects Brownmed’s continued commitment to innovative, patient-focused medical devices,” said Dr. Ivan Brown, president and CEO of Brownmed, Inc. “Joslin Slings are already the preferred choice in the marketplace. We will quickly expand adoption through introduction of the product to our broad distribution network. Furthermore, bringing Joslin Slings into our product mix will enhance our ability to provide customers with a multitude of products designed to improve the lives of patients.”

Unlike traditional cloth slings, the patented Joslin Slings stretch for a custom fit. The flagship product in this line, the Ultimate Arm Sling, was designed especially to relieve painful pressure points while providing maximum support and stability for both short and long term use.

Since their introduction in 2000, Joslin Slings, including the cotton spandex Ultimate Arm Sling and the stretch, disposal Joslin ER Sling have received rave reviews from patients, health care professionals, elite athletes and celebrities alike. Products were developed and introduced by Mandy Joslin, President of Joslin Orthopedic Gear, in response to a lack of comfortable options available to hospitals and consumers. The line has steadily grown and set an industry standard for thoughtful, patient oriented products under Ms. Joslin's leadership.

"I look forward to working with Brownmed to dramatically expand the reach of Joslin Orthopedic Gear products both nationally and internationally.  My product line provides a wonderful complement to existing Brownmed products, which are patient oriented and comfort based. Our business philosophy blends easily, and I believe we will be very successful together."

As part of the acquisition, Mandy Joslin will provide consulting services to Brownmed over the coming months to share her expertise on the product line.
