Joseph Cosgrove will serve as the new CEO of AleraCare as well as a member of the board of directors

PHOENIX—AleraCare, a provider of infusion and specialty pharmacy services across the United States, announced that its board of directors has unanimously appointed Joseph Cosgrove as the company’s new chief executive officer and as a member of the board. Russ Corvese will retire as CEO, effective Oct. 13, and will serve as an advisor to the business during the transition.

AleraCare and PURE Healthcare have entered into a definitive agreement to merge, which will create a premier national platform that delivers integrated, patient-centered infusion and specialty care services. The transaction is expected to close in the fourth quarter of 2025 and remains subject to customary closing conditions.

Corvese, who co-founded AleraCare and has served as CEO since inception, helped AleraCare expand its national footprint, strengthen its clinical programs and advance its mission of providing compassionate, high-quality care.

“Leading AleraCare has been one of the greatest privileges of my career,” said Corvese. “I am proud of what we have accomplished together in supporting patients and their families. As I step back, I am confident that Joe’s experience, leadership and vision—particularly as the company moves toward its merger with PURE Healthcare—will guide AleraCare into an exciting new chapter of growth.”

“We thank Russ for his visionary leadership and tireless commitment to the patients we serve," said Stephen Hallenbeck, partner at Hildred Capital. "We are equally pleased to welcome Joe as chief executive officer and to our board of directors. We believe his leadership and operational experience—together with the pending PURE Healthcare merger—will help position the platform for its next phase of growth and success.”

Cosgrove brings more than 25 years of executive leadership experience across health care services, life sciences and private equity–backed growth companies.

Before joining AleraCare, Cosgrove served as chairman, president and chief executive officer of two private equity–backed health care services companies, Pentec Health and Leiters Health, where he led both organizations through several growth phases, acquisitions and partnerships with leading health systems and payers.

Cosgrove has also served on multiple boards and industry advisory groups, providing guidance on value-based care, home and community-based services and the integration of technology into patient care delivery.

“I am honored to succeed Russ and to build on the strong foundation that he and the team have created,” said Cosgrove. “AleraCare’s mission to deliver outstanding care and support to patients and their families is one that I am deeply committed to. The pending merger with PURE Healthcare represents a tremendous opportunity to expand our reach and impact, and I look forward to working with our talented team and the board to realize that vision.”
