CHARLOTTE, N.C. — During the run-up to the 2010 Democratic National Convention, the North Carolina state association has invited party leaders to visit local HME companies to see first-hand "the devastating effects" of competitive bidding.
"Charlotte is the center of a healthcare disaster," said Marcia Ladd, president of the NCAMES Board of Directors. Ladd said association members hope to host Democrats to explain how the program "is forcing them into service contraction, 'suicide bidding' to try to keep their patients under their care and other job-killing business decisions just to try to keep their doors open."
