MINNEAPOLIS (June 30, 2022)—Coloplast, a global medical device company and provider of intimate health care needs, has been awarded an AscenDrive agreement with Premier, Inc. AscenDrive is a national program designed to standardize the care delivery process and help drive the highest-level commitment and savings for members. Effective July 1, 2022, Coloplast is one of two suppliers awarded the AscenDrive contract for ostomy products. 
 


CHARLOTTE, N.C. (June 24, 2022)—A Charlotte, North Carolina, doctor is facing federal charges for her role in a durable medical equipment (DME) scheme that defrauded federal benefits programs of more than $11 million, announced Dena J. King, U.S. Attorney for the Western District of North Carolina. Sudipta Mazumder, 46, of Charlotte, is charged with one count of health care fraud and six counts of making false statements relating to health care matters.

ATLANTA (June 20, 2022)—After Emerald officials decided to consolidate the Medtrade East and Medtrade West shows into one annual event, the question became; when and where? 

“The suspense is over, and the contract has been signed,” said York Schwab, show director. “Medtrade will head to Dallas and take place March 28-30, 2023.”

The specific location is the Kay Bailey Hutchison Convention Center in the Convention Center District in downtown Dallas. 

WATERLOO, Iowa (June 10, 2022)—The Durable Medical Equipment Repair and Training (DMERT) Group has announced Wayne Grau as the new chair of their executive board.  

Greg Packer, president of U.S. Rehab and previous Chair of the DMERT Group, announced his resignation to be effective upon the naming of a successor. 


OWINGS MILLS, Md. (May 12, 2022)—Research is now underway for the study “Racial Bias in Orthotics and Prosthetics,” a recipient of a 2021 American Orthotic and Prosthetic Association (AOPA) and Center for Orthotic and Prosthetic Learning and Outcomes/Evidence-Based Practice (COPL) Pilot Grant. The Board of Certification/Accreditation (BOC) committed $30,000 to fund the study, which is the first of its kind in the orthotics and prosthetics (O&P) field.


BRENTWOOD, Tenn. (May 9, 2022)—The Numotion Foundation announced emergency relief contributions in the amount of $50,000 to organizations serving those affected by the ongoing aggression in Ukraine. The contribution is primarily intended to assist those living with mobility-related disabilities currently facing displacement, economic uncertainty, and a lack of access to appropriate mobility equipment and independent living aids as the result of the worsening crisis in this region.
