BALTIMORE — In a proposed decision memo issued earlier this month, CMS said while the evidence does not demonstrate that the use of home oxygen to treat cluster headache improves outcomes, its use "is promising." So the agency is supporting the therapy under certain narrow conditions.
According to the memo, "home use of oxygen to treat [cluster headaches] is covered by Medicare only when furnished to Medicare beneficiaries who have had at least five severe to very severe unilateral headache attacks lasting 15-180 minutes when untreated" and other conditions. Read the entire memo.
