BIRMINGHAM, Ala. (August 25, 2020)—Sanitation and disinfection are top of mind as the novel coronavirus pandemic continues. For SoClean, the company behind the CPAP sanitizer of the same name, sanitation is getting kicked up a notch with new products to clean the home. CEO Bob Wilkins shares with us.

1. SoClean recently released an air purifier that is 99.99999% effective at eliminating viruses, bacteria, and allergens from the air. Why is air purification so important?

The way SARS-CoV-2 is transmitted has made consumers everywhere very focused on the airborne spread of bacteria and viruses. At the same time, many have been left feeling powerless to protect themselves, and have taken action to ensure that at least their homes are a safe respite.

We felt it was an important time to leverage Celios’ technology and produce next-generation air purification for consumer use at home. At SoClean we want to be able to provide our customers with much-needed peace of mind and, with the SoClean Air Purifier, they can be sure that they’ve eliminated up to 99.99999% of airborne viruses, bacteria, and allergens—surpassing HEPA standards by 3000 times.

2. In addition to the air purifier, SoClean also announced the release of the SoClean Device Disinfector. For the disinfector, why did you choose ozone purification over UV or another method?

We identified an urgent need to keep high-touch everyday items such as cellphones, remote controls and key fobs free from viruses and bacteria and realized that we had already created a solution. Knowing the success that we had with the unique process of the SoClean 2, we were able to leverage that technology and create a product we knew we could stand behind and offer confidently to consumers.

3. Do you think the pandemic is changing how people view disinfection and sanitation technology?

The pandemic has raised collective awareness of how unsanitary our everyday environments are; this heightened awareness is leading more people to be aware of possible bacteria and viruses in their homes. Our goal is for the SoClean Air Purifier and the SoClean Device Disinfector to empower consumers to easily develop a daily routine to provide a cleaner everyday environment for their families.

4. Where do you see disinfection technology going in the next year? Five years?

With COVID-19 raising awareness of the importance of cleanliness and disinfection, the technology is going to advance now faster than ever. While I can’t definitively say what the future of disinfection will look like, I can say it will improve at a rate this industry has not seen before. We do not know when the threat of COVID-19 will subside, but the focus on cleanliness and disinfection will be a long-term effect of the virus.
