State Medicaids Must Set Up RACs

BALTIMORE — In an Oct. 1 letter to state Medicaid directors, CMS' Peter Budetti, deputy administrator, said the agency plans to implement provisions of the Affordable Care Act to expand the Recovery Audit Contractor program in the states.

The letter notes that each state is required to begin setting up its own Medicaid RAC program, or begin the process to apply for a waiver, by Dec. 31. Read the letter on the CMS website.
