SAN FRANCISCO—SilverRide Inc., a mobility-as-a-service platform serving older adults and individuals with movement or cognitive challenges, announced it has doubled ridership volume to 74,000 monthly rides in the first half of 2025, up from 35,000 monthly rides in the same period last year.
Operating across 12 states, SilverRide delivers assisted rides to individuals who need extensive transportation. The company said this milestone reflects not only rising demand but also rising expectations that riders, caregivers, families and communities are "seeking better options transportation that is reliable, human-centered and tailored to the real-world needs of aging adults and people with disabilities."
“With over 10,000 Americans turning 65 each day, the need for aging-ready transportation is accelerating,” said Jeff Maltz, founder and chief executive officer of SilverRide. “We’ve doubled ridership because our partners are experiencing fewer service gaps, higher rider satisfaction and a real solution to the growing mobility needs of older adults. This is what happens when you invest in developing an extensively credentialed driver network and prioritize safety, consistency and independence in every trip.”
According to SilverRide, by 2030, the U.S. population aged 65 and over is projected to swell from 57.8 million in 2022 to approximately 71.2 million, representing nearly 20% of Americans—a demographic shift that will increase demand for mobility services. SilverRide provides three specialized service lines:
- Paratransit Services: Partnerships with transit agencies to deliver high quality, reliable, Americans with Disabilities Act-compliant door-to-door shared ride transit service for riders with mobility needs.
- Program of All-Inclusive Care for the Elderly (PACE) and Health care Transportation: Contracted door-through-door service for PACE and healthcare providers, connecting participants to care, day centers, and social programs – plus delivery of prescriptions and meals. PACE supports coordinated community-based care under Medicare and Medicaid.
- Direct-to-Consumer Assisted Transportation (Retail): Personalized rides for older adults and individuals with disabilities, including door-through-door assistance, driver companionship, and flexible scheduling.
SilverRide’s platform currently supports an average of 74,000 rides per month.
“SilverRide has become an extension of our care team,” said Wirter Mangrum, director of transportation, myPlace Health. “It’s not just about rides. It’s about respect, consistency and the way they treat our program participants with sincerity, professionalism and compassion. We’ve seen stronger engagement and improved wellness outcomes since they came onboard.”
