Dependable Home Healthcare announced it will be laying off more than 360 personal care assistants & support staff with its closure

ST. PAUL, Minnesota—Dependable Home Healthcare, a homecare company in St. Paul, Minnesota, announced it is closing its doors and will be laying off more than 360 employees. In a notice to the state’s Department of Employment and Economic Development, Dependable Home Healthcare said layoffs will include personal care assistants and support staff.

The homecare agency's closure comes days after Governor Tim Walz proclaimed the second week of November as Home Medical Equipment (HME) & Services Appreciation Week in the state of Minnesota to highlight the value of HME professionals, products and services in making home-based care possible.

Dependable Home Healthcare works with people with disabilities in their homes and communities.

CEO Katie Fleury said in a released statement that several factors led to the shutdown, including increased operating costs, struggles to recruit staff and regulatory changes such as reductions in allowable service hours and lower rates for overnight care.

“Dependable is actively supporting its clients and employees through this transition,” Fleury said. “We are working with each individual client and their family to locate continuing care without interruption with other providers.”

Fleury said the company plans to help employees find new work, and its client services will officially end in late January.
