Elis Urena De Cruz has been convicted and sentenced for theft of New Hampshire Medicaid funds

CONCORD, New Hampshire—Elis Urena De Cruz, age 42, of Manchester, New Hampshire, has been convicted and sentenced for theft of New Hampshire Medicaid funds, said Attorney General John M. Formella.

Between March 24, 2021, and May 31, 2021, Urena De Cruz submitted fraudulent timesheets to her employer, MAS Staffing, falsely stating she was providing homecare services to an individual whom Urena De Cruz knew was not at home, and who was, in fact, in the Dominican Republic. In reliance on her false timesheets, Urena De Cruz’s employer unwittingly submitted claims to New Hampshire Medicaid for care that Urena De Cruz did not render.

The Merrimack County Superior Court sentenced Urena De Cruz to serve six months in the Merrimack County House of Corrections, fully suspended for two years, and placed her on probation for one year. The Court did not order restitution as a condition of Urena de Cruz’s suspended sentence because she paid restitution in full prior to sentencing.
