HUDSON, Ohio—GEMCO Medical, a national wholesale distributor of medical supplies, announced that it will open a new distribution center in Salt Lake City, Utah, in the summer of 2026. The company said the facility aims to expand capacity, accelerate delivery times and enhance service levels for customers across the Western United States.
The Salt Lake City distribution center will operate as a fully licensed, National Association of Boards of Pharmacy-Accredited Drug Distributors (NABP ADD)-accredited fulfillment facility and support GEMCO Medical’s health care-compliant third-party logistics (3PL) services. The site will receive, store and distribute a broad range of medical supplies. GEMCO said Salt Lake City was selected for its proximity to major transportation corridors and carrier hubs, as well as its central location relative to a Western U.S. customer base.
"This new distribution center represents a major investment in our customers and the future of GEMCO Medical," said GEMCO's CEO Matthew Edwards. "Building on the expansion of our headquarters distribution facility in 2021, this next phase of growth reflects our commitment to scaling our infrastructure alongside customer demand. Expanding our footprint in the Western U.S. enables faster deliveries, new service levels and a consistently better customer experience."
The company said once fully operational, the facility should increase overall inventory capacity and improve order cutoff times for same-day and emergency shipments. It will also provide additional redundancy to GEMCO Medical’s distribution network, strengthening business continuity during regional disruptions.
“Growing our network allows us to deliver more than speed—it builds resilience,” Edwards said. “Multiple distribution centers help ensure continuity of supply, so our customers can remain focused on caring for the people who rely on them.”
