SAN FRANCISCO (April 19, 2022)—Better Health, the nationwide medical supply and care provider, announced that Robert Mirsky, MD, MMM, FAAFP, has joined the company’s board of advisors. Mirsky is a seasoned physician executive with extensive health plan experience across Medicare, Medicaid and commercial lines of business. Mirsky most recently served as Chief Medical Officer and Vice President of Medical Operations for Aetna Medicare.

“An important part of improving the quality of life and overall health outcomes for underserved populations is addressing both their medical and psychosocial needs,” said Mirsky. “That's what Better Health provides their customers: a combination of the best home medical supplies along with peer coaching. I'm delighted to be working with them as they expand this innovative care model to more categories and improve outcomes for an even wider population.”

Through his current work with early-stage health care companies, Mirsky is dedicated to helping people thrive as they age. With a focus on mitigating isolation and loneliness through face-to-face and virtual engagement, he aims to address the medical, emotional and social determinants of health for seniors.

"Dr. Mirsky shares our view that when it comes to home medical supplies, it's not just a logistics issue, it's a health care issue,” said Better Health Co-Founder and CEO Naama Stauber Breckler. “Finding the right products and knowing how to integrate them into everyday life has a profound impact on patients’ quality of life, health outcomes and cost of care. Dr. Mirsky’s deep understanding of payers and the needs of underserved aging populations will enable us to expand our impact as we support people at home through access to medical supplies, peer coaching and product experts.”

Mirsky joins Better Health’s advisory board alongside Bob Hurley, former eHealth President of Medicare Business, and Scott Flanders, former eHealth CEO.

Prior to serving as Medicare CMO for Aetna, Mirsky held leadership roles as CMO for North Shore-LIJ (Northwell) CareConnect Insurance Company, the Mid-Atlantic Region of Coventry Health Care, Gateway Health Plan in Pittsburgh, and Tenet Health System Florida, along with serving as the Senior MD for FloridaBlue. Mirsky practiced family medicine for 10 years in New York and Florida. He completed residency and chief residency at St. Joseph’s Medical Center in New York.
