Kristen Wheeler has more than 20 years in the homecare industry

NORTH HAVEN, Connecticut—Corcoran Consulting Group announced that Kristen Wheeler will take over the role of managing consultant.

Wheeler brings more than 20 years of experience in non-medical private pay homecare to her role at Corcoran Consulting Group. A former agency owner and association leader, she has spent her career helping homecare organizations launch, grow and stay compliant in a complex regulatory landscape.

Wheeler’s journey began in 2004 in Key West, Florida, when she was tapped to create a private duty program for a Medicare-certified homecare and hospice agency. Recognizing the unique strengths of the independent private pay model, she went on to co-own a standalone private duty agency before moving into association leadership.

At Corcoran Consulting Group, Wheeler advises clients looking to start or strengthen their private duty homecare services—whether as a new business or an extension of a Medicare-certified agency. She guides organizations through licensing, applications, policy development and compliance with federal and state regulations.

She served nearly six years as director of private duty services at the Home Care Association of Florida (HCAF), where she helped build a robust statewide network of private duty providers. She also led national advocacy efforts as executive director of private duty homecare at the National Alliance for Care at Home.

“In highly regulated states like Florida, starting or expanding homecare services can feel overwhelming," Wheeler said. "It’s critical to understand the differences and nuances in licensing and compliance—and to work with people who stay ahead of the curve.”
