BUFFALO, N.Y. — After evaluating industry feedback, the steering committee working toward a separate Medicare benefit for complex rehab will review its new proposal paper on the initiative in a pair of October webinars.

Two calls on the proposal (both the same presentation) have been scheduled. The webinars are free, but registration is required:

The 20-member steering committee began exploration on development of a separate benefit for complex rehab technology last year and presented its first discussion draft in March. Since then, the draft has been widely distributed for comment and individual workgroups have continued discussion of its major components, including coding, coverage and payment issues.

The group has also been exploring options on the legislative front and began lobbying efforts for the new benefit during the CELA conference in April.

According to NCART Executive Director Don Clayback, the October webinars will provide updated details of planned changes and a review of activities on the effort.

"We are making progress with this major initiative and it is important that you stay aware of what is developing and provide your input," Clayback said in a notice about the webinars. "These calls give you that opportunity."
