ATLANTA (August 25, 2015)—Know of a great retail product? If so, call up the manufacturers and urge them to enter the biannual Innovative HME Retail Product Awards, a tradition at Medtrade (sponsored by HomeCare Magazine) thathonors HME products that are suited for retail sale. The purpose of the competition is to promote and recognize products that contribute to providers' bottom lines though cash sales.

Products will be reviewed by judges and the top eight will advance to an onsite judging round.

The top eight products will be presented in a Medtrade conference session, The Best New Retail/Cash Opportunities, on Tuesday, Oct 27, 9:00 a.m., at the C102 Auditorium at the Georgia World Congress Center in Atlanta. Voting will take place at the session to determine the top three winners.

All product entries must be manufactured by companies that are exhibiting at Medtrade.

The format will be similar to Medtrade Spring earlier this year, with the Medtrade audience voting for the top three Innovative Retail Products. To reiterate: Medtrade judges will pick the top eight entries to be presented, and attendees and judges will then vote for the top three products. “You be the judge,” says Jim Greatorex, session moderator (pictured) and business development consultant for VGM Retail. “Come see the year’s best and most innovative products.”

“All of these efforts seek to combine ‘retail’ with ‘care,’ so we and friends of Medtrade came up with term ‘caretailing,’” says Kevin Gaffney, group show director, Medtrade. “We define caretailing as: 'The act of providing customer service and expertise to consumers willing to pay cash for health-related products that improve their lives and are beyond the usual scope of Medicare and other third party payers.’ Attending Medtrade is a great way to find new ways to succeed in the business of caretailing.”
