SAN DIEGO, Calif., Jan. 28, 2013—DME Data Solutions, Inc., has successfully launched its latest product, the CPAP Patient Data Analyzer (CPDA). This data analytics system enables users to manage clinical outcomes and create powerful “data mining” queries. “We’re extremely pleased with the results from our launch,” said Ken Ravazzolo, president and founder. “We were hoping to make initial sales to physician practices, hospital sleep centers and HMEs and we accomplished all three goals.” Beta testing for the CPDA system began in early 2012 and the official release occurred last October.

CPDA imports data from sleep studies, CPAP therapy reports and EMR systems and stores it in a shared database. This data can then be used to manage clinical outcomes via trend reports and also enables users to “data mine” their data regardless of third-party devices and systems. After creating a patient baseline from the sleep study, users can view CPAP device data such as AHI, leak, pressure and compliance alongside non-device data including weight, BMI, blood pressure and other data points. Patient satisfaction surveys and HST device tracking are also part of the system. CPDA can be installed locally at the user’s site or hosted in a private cloud.

“We’re excited to start using the system,” said Keith Knittle, respiratory department and sleep lab manager at the Portland VA Medical Center. “It’ll help us track our HST devices and provide our physicians with a trend report from testing through therapy. We’ll also be able to get a better picture of how our sleep patients are doing as a whole.”

In addition to clinical outcome management, other uses of the system include patient education and research. “Users are also interested in packaging their data to seek higher reimbursement and attract new referral sources,” Ravazzolo said.
