Air Products Healthcare recently finalized its acquisition of Melrose Park, Ill.-based Ultra Care, one of the largest privately held home respiratory and infusion companies in the country with more than $30 million in sales.

According to Robert Cucuel, CEO of Air Products' U.S. home care business, the oxygen giant plans to merge Ultra Care with its DependiCare operations in Broadview, Ill., and the acquisition will strengthen Air Products' presence in the greater Chicago area.

During the 2004 fiscal year, Air Products acquired six home care companies. The global oxygen supplier intends to strengthen its U.S. position further by continuing to make roughly $75 million in home care acquisitions per year, according to a company press release.

Air Products, serving technology, industrial, health care and energy markets in 30 countries, has annual revenues of $7.4 billion. Revenue from the company's U.S home care business, which Air Products entered in October 2002, is approaching $300 million, the company said.
