WATERLOO, Iowa—The Healthcare Quality Association on
Accreditation, which offered the first online accreditation process
for HME providers, held an open house July 30 to show off its
expanded offices. Since formation in 2005, the accreditation
organization has doubled its business every year, according to Mary
Nicholas, executive director, growing from one employee to 26.
“To date, HQAA has accredited close to 5,000 DME/HME
locations nationwide,” Nicholas said. The accreditor covers
ancillary care services including HME suppliers, medical supply
provider services, respiratory programs, medication programs,
rehabilitation technology supplier services, home infusion
companies and pharmacies.
