BALTIMORE — On Friday, CMS released a special MLN Matters article on the steps providers should take to get ready for registration in the Round 1 rebid for Medicare DMEPOS. Although exact dates have not been announced, according to a CMS timeline, bid registration will open this summer with bidding set to begin in the fall.

In this year's bid cycle, providers — including those who bid in the first Round 1 — will need to register in CMS' security system, called the Individuals Authorized Access to the CMS Computer Services, or IACS. But to do so, information concerning a provider's "Authorized Officials" (personnel with access to the bidding system) and mailing address must exactly match that on its CMS-855S enrollment application on file with the National Supplier Clearinghouse.

If anything has changed since the last enrollment form was submitted, including any personal identifying information for the AO, "then you should PROMPTLY complete a change of information on the CMS-855S," the article said.

NSC processing time to complete any changes is approximately 45 days. After bid registration, the AO's user ID and password will be mailed in two separate letters to the mailing address listed on the 855S.
