WASHINGTON (Jan. 16, 2015)—According the American Association of Homecare, Marilyn Tavenner, who has served as administrator of the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid (CMS) since 2010, announced today that she will resign from the administration in February. Tavenner is most well known for implementing the roll-out of the Health Insurance Marketplace as part of the Affordable Care Act.

Andrew Slavitt, current principal deputy administrator, will take over as acting administrator upon Tavenner's departure. Slavitt  joined CMS in July 2014, overseeing initiatives such as combatting health care fraud, reforming health care delivery and improving health outcomes.
