Univita Health Acquires Florida-Based Atenda

Univita Health, Scottsdale, Ariz., announced last week it has
acquired Davie, Fla.-based Atenda Healthcare Solutions and its
affiliated companies, including Florida Home Medical Equipment.

Atenda is one of the largest home health benefit management
companies, providing home nursing, infusion therapy, DME and
specialty pharmaceuticals to more than 1.3 million patients.
Launched by Genstar Capital in 2008, Univita concentrates on
integrating the full range of in-home care needs with support from
the latest technologies.

“Bringing together non-clinical and clinical home care into one
integrated offering is foundational to the Univita strategy,” said
Hugh Lytle, Univita president and CEO, in a release. “Atenda
provides a strong platform by which we can greatly broaden
Univita’s home health care services and continue transforming the
way health care is provided in the home. Driven by the growth of
the senior population and the advantages associated with providing
care in a home setting, home health care services are an
increasingly important component of the health care system.”
