HME organizations and associations are urging stakeholders to
lobby their members of Congress about competitive bidding and the
36-month oxygen rental cap while they are home during a two-week
recess that continues through April 17.
The competitive bidding interim final rule, which requires a rebid
of Round One in 2009, becomes effective April 18. And industry
advocates are hopeful an overhaul of Medicare’s oxygen
benefit will become part of the nation’s health care reform
plan.
“This two-week period gives DME advocates an opportunity
to visit with representative and senators,” said Wayne
Stanfield, president and CEO of the National Association of
Independent Medical Equipment Suppliers. “We urge every
supplier to call now and make an appointment … Now
is the time to act.”
