Rebid Call No. 5 to Cover Bid Evaluation

COLUMBIA, S.C. — CMS and its Competitive Bidding
Implementation Contractor (Palmetto GBA) will present the next
Special Open Door Forum on the Round 1 rebid tomorrow (Sept. 29)
from 2 to 3 p.m. ET.

The fifth of eight planned teleconferences on the DMEPOS bidding program‘s new
Round 1, the call will “walk through the bid evaluation process.
This will include discussions about the components of bid
evaluation and calculations of the single payment amounts,”
according to a notice.

The first four calls, with information presented by the CBIC’s
Cindy Dreher, content and policy lead, covered:

• Aug. 19 — how to register for bidding
  and access the online bidding system (called dBids);
• Sept. 2 — the rules of submitting a bid
  successfully (including a discussion of “bona fide” bids);
• Sept. 16 — what you need to know before
  submitting a bid (contract terms, grandfathering and traveling
  beneficiaries); and
• Sept. 22 — financial documentation and
  small supplier considerations, along with a discussion of reporting
  “capacity.”

Audio recordings and transcripts from the Aug. 19 and Sept. 2
calls have been posted to the CBIC Web site, available through its

“Education Events” link under “Suppliers.” Playbacks and
transcripts from the Sept. 16 and Sept. 22 calls will be posted at
a later date, Dreher said.

Following tomorrow’s call, a sixth Special Open Door session on
the bid submission process will be held Oct. 7, with two open calls
for questions planned Oct. 14 and Nov. 4 (the final date for bidder
registration).

Round 1 rebid including reminders about the coming changes “that
will affect the way Medicare pays for DMEPOS and how Medicare
