Billing for Portable Oxygen Contents

In a notice posted Aug. 16, Noridian Administrative Services,
the Jurisdiction D DME MAC, is requesting that providers include a
narrative on claims billed for portable oxygen contents when use of
stationary oxygen equipment has been discontinued.

“NAS cannot conclusively identify that the use of stationary
equipment has been discontinued prior to its cap unless indicated
by the billing supplier,” the DME MAC said, so addition of the
narrative “will expedite correct claims processing and may prevent
denials of oxygen contents.”
