PAP Documentation Revised

In response to questions about documentation requirements in the
positive airway pressure local coverage determination, the DME MAC
medical directors have revised the LCD.

To clarify when a patient may switch from an E0601 to an E0470
device, the treating physician must now document interface fit and
comfort and E0601 pressure settings, the MACs said in a notice last
week. The change will be effective for dates of service on or after
Aug. 1, 2010.
