WellSky is offering new artificial intelligence tools such as WellSky Scribe to improve electronic health records for caregivers

OVERLAND PARK, Kansas—WellSky, a global health and community care technology and services company, announced that embedded artificial intelligence (AI) capabilities are now powering its electronic health record (EHR) platform, WellSky Home Health, powered by SkySense AI. The new integration of AI tools includes the addition of WellSky Scribe, an ambient listening and transcription solution that the company said supports faster, AI-powered clinical documentation within the EHR workflow.

The WellSky Home Health, powered by SkySense AI platform includes the company’s suite of AI-powered capabilities designed to optimize an organization’s operation. WellSky Scribe captures conversations between providers and patients in real time, freeing clinicians from the keyboard and delivering notes directly into the EHR. WellSky said Scribe can help to improve both the clinician and patient experience by allowing clinicians to focus their attention on patient care during a home health visit, ultimately helping to improve staff retention and recruitment.

“The demands on home health clinicians to assess patients, provide care and complete extensive documentation has led to burnout and workload issues, which contribute to the ongoing staffing challenges within the industry,” said Wes Little, executive vice president, analytics and AI, at WellSky. “WellSky Scribe is a great example of how we are responsibly introducing AI solutions that help solve real problems and create immediate value for our clients.”

During a visit, the clinician activates WellSky Scribe, which identifies and extracts terms and information from the audible assessment and populates the forms and fields within the WellSky Home Health EHR. Following the visit, the home health clinician reviews the auto-populated data, confirms its accuracy and submits it within minutes—saving significant active documentation time.

In December, the company will launch the WellSky Intelligent Language Assistant (WILA), a conversational voice assistant that works with WellSky Scribe to complete OASIS documentation not captured during the visit. After a visit, a clinician can call WILA, which will guide the clinician through the remaining documentation questions and populate those responses within the EHR.

WellSky Scribe and WILA build on AI within the WellSky Home Health platform. WellSky Extract, released in January 2025, compiles patient medication information from various sources—like referral documents, handwritten medication lists and medication label photos—and populates the data into the EHR. Users of WellSky Extract have reported up to 80% reduction in medication reconciliation time.
