Lisa Wells is a disability advocate and marketing expert.

NEW YORK (July 10, 2017)—United Spinal Association announced the appointment of Lisa Wells, vice president of marketing at Cure Medical from Las Vegas, Nevada, as a member of its Board of Directors.

“After serving people with disabilities for nearly a decade, this is a wonderful opportunity to further the support, programs and resources available to people who use wheelchairs nationwide,” said Wells.

“I'm honored and look forward to serving United Spinal members and their loved ones as an advocate in an ongoing and significant way,” added Wells.

Wells has over 20 years of experience in public relations, marketing communications and web-based product management at medical device, medical supply and health technology companies including Cure Medical, 3M Healthcare Information Services, Ceridian, UroMed and SIGVARIS.

“Lisa’s wealth of industry-related marketing experience and knowledge of critical issues impacting the disability community will help guide our organization’s outreach efforts and national initiatives to improve the quality of life and independence of our members,” said James Weisman, United Spinal’s president and CEO.

As VP of marketing for Cure Medical, Wells leads the short and long-term strategic marketing responsibility for the business to ensure the Cure Medical brand strategy is translated into promotional execution. Her key focus areas are: brand strategy/planning, community relations, digital marketing, referral and dealer relationships/programs and direct to consumer marketing.

Before her tenure at Cure Medical, Wells was the president of Get Social Consulting, a medical device marketing consultancy that advised health care providers across three continents on ways to connect with their customers and patients through digital marketing programs and social communities.

Wells has authored four books for the disability and homecare industry; manages a consulting business, serves as an educational speaker and presenter at health care and disability conferences nationwide.

Wells has also created two well-regarded social media communities for wheelchair users: Life After Spinal Cord Injury and Wheel:Life. She is a subject-matter expert for several trade publications for home medical equipment providers.

Wells earned two Bachelor of Arts degrees in journalism/mass communications and in Spanish from Samford University.
