LEBANON, Tennessee—Permobil announced the launch of the M4 Nexa, an all-new compact mid-wheel power wheelchair designed to accommodate a broader range of users, including smaller individuals.
Permobil said M4 Nexa is designed to bring together the access users need with the performance and clinical capabilities they require. Small statured users, adolescent through adult, of power wheelchairs have historically been asked to compromise between fit and functionality.
Compact front casters allow the footplates to tuck beneath the chair, helping users get closer to tables, work surfaces, access vehicles and complete transfers. Additionally, the M4 Nexa is the only chair in its class to provide a 15-inch/38 cm seat to floor height with anterior tilt, enabling more level transfers and broader access to standard height tables. With seat depths from 10 to 22 inches/25 to 56 cm in a single seating system, the M4 Nexa offers the broadest depth range in the category. Finally, the M4 Nexa incorporates Permobil Connect, the only “always on” connectivity platform in the category, enabling battery and range visibility, fault alerts before the chair stops, personalization and a host of other empowering capabilities.
Developed in close collaboration with users, clinicians, providers and engineers, it brings together the new patent-pending Nexa Seating System and advanced adjustability to help people to live more independently.
The system is designed around the body’s natural pivot points, helping the seating system move with the user and reduce unwanted displacement during powered positioning. Its dynamic pivot design aligns the rotation axis with the body’s anatomical pivot points, while full seat-depth contact and body-aligned arm supports help maintain support and stability across a range of seating positions. Measured against Permobil’s industry-recognized Corpus seating system, the Nexa Seating System provides 25-50% less user movement during powered positioning.
